5 YouTube Beauty Gurus To Watch

By

Introduction

Following an active YouTube channel can sometimes feel like following your favorite television series. Some YouTube users, like the ever-popular (not to mention hilarious) Jenna Marbles even post new videos on a set day every week. Since it began in 2005 YouTube has, to put it lightly, exploded in popularity. This gave even the most average Joe an opportunity for a taste of fame, to be heard in this world, without having to be a Kardashian.

My favorite channels to follow on YouTube are makeup and fashion gurus. Now if you're looking for a list of the 5 best beauty gurus to watch, this may not be quite what you're looking for. These are 5 girls that I have come across while searching step-by-step makeup tutorials that I have personally enjoyed and believe should be recognized in the YouTube world. Some of them are wildly popular with over 400,000 subscribers, and the others are just extremely talented young women who deserve recognition for their amazing makeup tutorials. These girls are an example of how you can turn your true passion into an opportunity that can ultimately become your career and lifestyle.

1. bubzbeauty

Bubzbeauty, or "Bubbi" is the #1 most subscribed beauty guru in the United Kingdom, and it's easy to see why. Her videos are well-made, organized and classy, yet easygoing at the same time. She has more than one channel, but bubzbeauty is the one to go to for makeup tutorials, hairstyle and updo tutorials, and fashion. I started following her because her makeup tutorials are easy-to-follow, and unlike a lot of other tutorials on YouTube, you can actually clearly see everything she is doing. She carefully explains each step in both makeup and hair tutorials, and the end result is always beautiful. She clearly has a thorough understanding of beauty and skincare, often posting videos about how to take better care of your skin, and homemade beauty mask recipes.

Her wild success with beauty and fashion has led her to start her own clothing line and makeup brushes online. She uses her own brushes in her tutorials, not just to advertise but to show the capabilities they have as well.

With her overwhelming success, high quality videos, and likeable personality, Bubbi is definitely a person to check out the next time you're browsing YouTube. The only thing you might find wrong with Bubbi is that it's hard to watch her videos without feeling envious of her awesome hair...

2. Meganheartsmakeup

Megan Parken is another example of the possibilities YouTube can bring to a young person. Although she has yet to even graduate from high school, Megan has given herself a jump start to her future with immense popularity from her channel, Meganheartsmakeup. Similar to bubzbeauty, Megan has her own online store, with a wide range of products to choose from. If you are a teen yourself, you might have even already recognized her. Megan was recently invited to join Seventeen Magazine as one of their beauty gurus featured online and in print.

Meganheartsmakeup displays a vast collection of step-by-step hair tutorials, makeup tutorials, clothing hauls, and more. Her makeup style is natural and classic, without ever over-doing it. With nearly 430,000 subscribers, Megan seems to have her career started on the right track.

3. MissChievous

Next it's off to Switzerland where we meet Julia, a.k.a MissChievous. This is a channel to follow if you are looking for makeup that is a little more adventurous and fun. Julia has some serious talent when it comes to creating unforgettable eyes. Although most of her looks would not be considered "everyday" looks, this girl knows what she's doing with an eyeshadow palette, so you'll learn something new with every tutorial.

Julia likes to take looks that she has seen on famous celebrities, in music videos, and magazines, and recreate them on herself. She does product reviews, fashion, and lately has kept viewers up to date with inspiring videos following her weight loss journey. Follow MissChievous on YouTube and you won't be disappointed.

4. ilikeweylie

It's extremely difficult not to like Weylie. Although she doesn't have as many followers as other beauty gurus, and doesn't post videos as often, ilikeweylie is one of my favorite channels to follow. Why you ask? Because she's real! Weylie isn't on YouTube to pump out channels with boring, straight forward makeup tutorials. She's hilarious!

I started following Weylie on YouTube because she posts beautiful videos with useful tips for real teens and young adults who don't have picture-perfect skin like the other gurus on YouTube. I followed her for her makeup tutorials, but I keep following her because I know that every time there is a new video posted by ilikeweylie, I'm going to get a good laugh.

5. Macbarbie07

Don't let this girl's young age fool you, she knows what she's doing when it comes to beauty, hair, makeup, fashion, everything! At the young age of 16, Bethany's beauty channel Macbarbie07 is growing, and fast. She already has almost 445,000 subscribers, but that will surely grow as she is also one of the beauty gurus that will be featured each month on MyGlam's website and Facebook page.

MyGlam is a company started by another insanely popular YouTube guru, where you get a surprise makeup bag with high-end products each month in the mail. There are beauty gurus, like Bethany, who will then show users how to properly use the products found in that month's MyGlam bag.

Along with MyGlam tutorials, Macbarbie07 features classic makeup, hair, and fashion tutorials that are easy to follow, easy to watch, and easy to enjoy.

That's it!

These are only five of countless beauty gurus found on YouTube. They are five girls who display clearly visible, easy-to-follow looks that are appropriate for any age. YouTube has opened the world of makeup up to so many new options. No longer do you have to try to understand how to achieve a smokey eye look from a terrible illustration on the back of the packaging. New looks are being shared every day, so if you're interested in looking your absolute best, you have nothing to lose! Start exploring, learn new techniques, and share the guru's you have discovered along the way with others.

Common Products Used By Beauty Gurus

Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette
I bought this palette after seeing Megan use it in one of her eyeshadow tutorials. She's a big fan of MAC makeup, so to hear her give a great review on such an inexpensive product was a no-brainer for me. Upon arriving within just a few days this palette was in perfect condition, and leaves amazing results.
Amazon Price: $18.94
List Price: $18.95
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Eyeshadow Base .34 fl oz (10 ml)
Before starting any eyeshadow look, every beauty guru primes her eyelids with eyeshadow primer. I've noticed this brand is used more commonly among these women than any other. Eyeshadow primer prevents creasing, and allows eyeshadow to not only show up better but last much longer.
Amazon Price: $10.45
List Price: $18.00
Too Faced Cosmetics, Shadow Insurance, 0.35 Ounce
Upon reading reviews I opted for this primer, and I'm glad I did. This primer leaves my eye makeup intact throughout the entire work day, and even into the late evening.
Amazon Price: $4.81
List Price: $18.00
Maybelline New York Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm, Quenched, 0.15 Ounce
At least 3 of the beauty gurus I follow have been going bananas over Maybelline baby lips lip balm.
Amazon Price: $2.50
List Price: $3.99
E.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner (Black) elf
Watching beauty gurus has inspired me to go further than an eyeliner pencil. Now that I've been using liquid or gel liner above my eyelashes, I can't believe I ever went without. After trying both, I use this brand of gel/cream eyeliner. It's easy to apply and lasts all day without fail.
Amazon Price: $0.49
List Price: $3.00

Great hub and just what I was looking for. I follow only a few makeup tutorial beauty guru's on youtube and am looking for more. I like the different insights on how they do their makeup. I would have to say that my favorite Youtube guru is LittleKiva because she shares my same style(edgy and bold). Voted up!
